We usually avoid camping during holidays because of the crowd, but a chance to spend 10 days at Big Bend was just too good to pass up.
When we arrived at Big Bend on the Friday afternoon before Spring Break, things were quiet. When we woke up on Saturday morning the park seemed to have filled with tourists overnight.
Seminole Canyon State Park was another of those that was 'on the way'. Fate Bell Shelter is believed to be one of the oldest archaeological sites in North America, with artifacts and rock art dating back 10,000 years. Back then, mammoths roamed across Texas, agriculture hadn't been invented yet, and a few of my neighbors think the world hadn't been created yet*.
Caiti used the telescope to look out over the canyon. There wasn't much to see. The canyon is accessible by guided tour only, so we had to wait for the ranger to arrive.
